侍は日本の歴史を象徴する存在ですが、現代日本でもその影響は色濃く見受けられます。その背景には、侍が持つ特殊な価値観である武士道が強く関係しています。
侍とは、元々は平安時代（約800年から1200年前）に貴族の警護を担当する者を指す言葉で、次第に地方の領主や武士の地位を示すようになりました。侍は、誠実さや忠義、義理堅さを重んじる一方で、自身の命を惜しまない覚悟も持っていました。
この武士道は、現代の日本社会でも様々な形で継承されています。日本企業の勤務環境や社員の働き方やスポーツ界での競争精神等に、侍の忍耐力や、個人よりも団体を優先する精神が見られます。
例えば、日本のビジネスマンは長時間労働をして、会社の利益を最優先にする姿勢が見受けられます。また、日本の学生達は部活動で厳しい練習をこなし、チームの勝利を追い求める様子はまさしく侍の魂を思わせます。
しかし、このような侍精神に基づく働き方が、現代社会の問題ともなっています。長時間労働が引き起こす過労死やメンタルヘルス問題は、侍の覚悟とは異なる形で現れています。
侍の遺産とも言える武士道は、現代日本の社会と個々の行動に深く影響を与えています。しかし、それが新たな問題を引き起こすこともあるため、そのバランスをどのように保つべきか、考える必要があります。

English Translation

Samurai are a symbol of Japanese history, and their influence can be seen strongly in modern Japan. This background is greatly related to Bushido, the special values held by the samurai.
The term "samurai" originally referred to those in charge of guarding the nobility during the Heian period(approximately 800 to 1200 years ago), and gradually came to denote the position of a local lord or samurai. Samurai valued integrity, loyalty, and righteousness, but were also prepared to spare their own lives.
This Bushido is carried on in various forms in modern Japanese society. The perseverance of the samurai and the spirit of putting the group before the individual can be seen in the work environment of Japanese companies, the way employees work, and the competitive spirit of the sports world.
For example, Japanese businessmen work long hours and put their company's profits first. Japanese students practice hard in club activities, and their pursuit of team victory is reminiscent of the spirit of the samurai.
However, this way of working based on the samurai spirit has also become a problem in today's society. Deaths from overwork and mental health problems caused by long working hours manifest themselves in ways that differ from the samurai's preparedness.
Bushido, the legacy of the samurai, has deeply influenced modern Japanese society and individual behavior. However, it can also cause new problems, so we need to consider how to maintain its balance.
